Shandong Chinese Kitchen Colombo is not only authentic but long-established since 1959.
Started by Lee Bin Kao and his brothers who are pioneers in the Chinese restaurant business in Sri Lanka.

The Brief

Shangdong the Chinese Kitchen based in Colombo, Sri Lanka offers dine-in and call-to order delivery services with its own fleet of riders.
With the growth of sales did the telephone calls for delivery.

Also, to place order customers should have visited the restaurants before to know about the quality and authenticity of the food.

While placing an order over the phone, the customer lacks a physical copy of the menu item, lack visual confirmation that the order was placed correctly.

Employees need to take the order over the phone in person. A method that consumes time and manual work is required.

Order ques were longer which hindered a rich customer experience.

To overcome this Shangdong wanted to digitize the ordering process with an online e-commerce website that would take online, offline payments along with remarketing, SMS and customer feedback tools.

Our Approach

We wanted to do something special for this project so we looked into new techniques and trends for the UX/UI.

The e-commerce system greatly simplifies the ordering process for both the customer and the restaurant. The system presents an interactive and up-to-date menu with all available options in an easy to use manner.

Customers can choose one or more items to place an order which will land in the Cart. Customers can view all the order details in the cart before checking out. In the end, the customer gets order confirmation details by email and SMS.

The Restaurant Employees quickly go through the orders as they are received and process all orders efficiently and effectively with minimal delays and confusion
